Libra x New Moon: Navigating Eclipses, Balance, and Honest Reflection

Below is an excerpt from my 'Libra Season Workbook' available HERE.

2nd of October

As we enter Libra season, we’re reminded of the importance of balance in our lives and relationships. This year, the energy is amplified by a solar eclipse / New Moon in Libra on 2nd of October, inviting us to explore not only our connections with others but also our relationship with ourselves. With a Super Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Pisces having just passed on September 17, the cosmic stage is set for profound transformation.

This season is not merely about seeking peace; it’s about establishing a deeper understanding of what balance truly means. It prompts us to ask difficult questions: Are our relationships nourishing or draining? Are we giving too much of ourselves? As we engage with these reflections, we can begin to identify where adjustments are needed.

Libra is often associated with harmony, diplomacy, and beauty, yet this season also compels us to face uncomfortable truths. It’s a time for introspection, where we may find ourselves evaluating our connections—be they romantic, familial, or platonic. The New Moon Solar Eclipse in Libra serves as a powerful catalyst for change, providing an opportunity to reassess the dynamics that influence our lives.

The Garden of Libra: Cultivating Healthy Relationships

The metaphor of a garden is apt during this season. Just as a gardener tends to plants, we must tend to our relationships, weeding out those that no longer serve us. This New Moon invites us to perform a relational audit, identifying connections that uplift us versus those that leave us feeling depleted. I myself am facing some often hard to accept reality checks in friendships that might have just run its course.

I dream of my friends frequently during this Libra Season, clearly a subconscious call to action. I still find it challenging accepting the universal truth that some relationships, like fleeting meteors, are destined to burn brightly but briefly. Many of my formerly intense & profound friendships have dwindled to infrequent WhatsApp check-ins and hollow pleasantries like "well I hope the weather improves and the work gets less stressful soon." Phone calls are planned and postponed repeatedly. Beneath the surface, a deep sorrow and unacknowledged grief linger, mourning the loss of closeness and intimacy.

Libra encourages us to confront difficult emotions and have honest conversations. Whether it’s addressing unresolved issues with a partner or reconsidering the value of friendships that feel one-sided, this is a time for transparency. These discussions may not be easy, but they are necessary for growth. Consider scheduling a dedicated time to connect with those important to you, ensuring that both parties feel heard and understood.

An essential lesson during Libra season is the establishment of boundaries. This is not about building walls but rather creating healthy structures that foster respect and understanding in our relationships. Boundaries allow us to communicate our needs effectively and safeguard our emotional well-being.

If you’ve found yourself feeling overwhelmed by others’ demands, take this opportunity to clarify your limits. Reflect on where you may need to assert yourself more clearly. Establishing boundaries requires self-awareness and courage, but it is a vital step toward nurturing healthier connections. Consider journaling about your feelings and needs as a way to clarify what boundaries you want to set.

"Don't let the expectations and ideas of others limit who you are. If you let others tell you who you are, you are living their reality — not yours. There is more to life than pleasing people. There is much more to life than following others' prescribed path. There is so much more to life than what you experience right now. You need to decide who you are for yourself. Become a whole being. Adventure.”
Roy T. Bennett

Raising Your Voice: Empowering Yourself and Others

Libra season also encourages us to reclaim our voices. It’s an invitation to not only speak our truths but also listen actively to the voices of others, particularly those who may have been silenced or marginalized. Engage in conversations that matter, both in personal relationships and within the larger community.

This could mean participating in local discussions about social justice, or simply offering support to friends who need a listening ear. Strive for empathy and understanding, recognizing that everyone carries their own burdens. By lifting each other up, we create a more harmonious environment for everyone.

Embracing Change: The Path Forward

As we move through this Libra season and the accompanying eclipse, remember that change often requires discomfort. When the Sun, historically and rightfully deified as an anthropomorphic life-giving entity by ancient cultures worldwide, was temporarily eclipsed by the Moon, it was often viewed as a powerful cosmic disruption, prompting ominous interpretations and premonitions. As the adage goes, "As above, so below," this celestial shadow mirrored disruptions in our global and personal lives. Our egos may face private challenges, while public figures might tumble from grace. Yet, these upheavals offer valuable lessons: humility and adaptability in navigating sudden disruptions and times of turmoil. They don't occur to topple our carefully constructed towers on a whim but rather to reveal where and how we can grow by confronting unexpected losses and changes to our plans. They show us how to persevere even when we're knocked far off course, reminding us to stay true to our path, even if it differs from our initial expectations.

Returning to the cosmic axis of last October's eclipse, we're invited to reflect on the events of that time and our evolution in the Libran themes of interpersonal connections, justice, authenticity, diplomacy, and balance. This is a powerful moment for lovingly releasing and letting go of unhealthy relationships, mindsets, and stories. It's advisable to quietly observe, take stock (journaling is a valuable tool), and identify themes similar to those that emerged last October, which may now be surfacing again and seeking release. However, it's best to avoid calling in big things, manifesting, or seeking new beginnings.

During the eclipse season, we’re just dressing down or dressing up for a party we want to attend, but do not leave the house yet and DO NOT TEXT YOUR EX to join, don’t do it girl!
