The week ahead astrology for people who survived the holidays but are not okay.
“Discipline is choosing between what you want now and what you want most.” – Abraham Lincoln
Well…Whoa..Thank the gods you worked so diligently on creating that bulletproof emotional infrastructure for a New Year nobody is ready for..kidding, of course you didn’t..you are still digesting, still mostly horizontal and the whole new year, new me is not going great.
So, like..how are we actually doing? Not the Instagram answer. Not the polite one you give your neighbour while dragging recycling bins through frost. The real one.
Because we are deep in Capricorn Season and for one I think due to the whole festive mess, this is the most wildly misunderstood astro season. People think it’s about ambition, hustle, climbing mountains, girlbossing your way into the new year. Cute.
The lived experience of Capricorn season is far more bipolar.
It’s the mountain goat helping us survive the festive obstacle course. The relentless dinners. The emotional ambushes disguised as traditions. The pressure to be grateful, radiant, successful, healed, thin, wealthy and spiritually evolved while your uncle asks why you’re still single and a liberal to boot, and your bank account wheezes like it needs medical attention.
Then the music stops.
New Year’s Eve explodes with overpriced eco-compromised fireworks, everyone posts something profound they lifted up from someone else’s account cause gods forbid we have original thoughts in 2026, and then the adrenaline drops. So do the pine needles from the tree. Your capricornian motivation is missing, presumed dead.
There’s a reason January blues are a thing. There’s even that infamous second Monday of January that gets branded the most depressing day of the year.
Capricorn Season doesn’t deny the void, it offers resilience to soldier us through both the loud detonations in the festive trenches and the subsequent radio silence of post NYE January.
And this year, the universe is not subtle about it.
January is marked by an obscene planetary huddle in Capricorn. Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars. It’s a board meeting. A cosmic audit. A very serious group chat where feelings are welcome only if they come with a plan.
This is reinforcement energy. Structural energy. Emotional scaffolding.
On a global level, this looks like systems groaning under their own weight. This is a time of global readjustment. In the United States, the uncertainty regarding its place in the world is reaching a fever pitch, with a military buildup in the Caribbean described as the largest since the Cuban Missile Crisis. The threat of nuclear proliferation becomes a topic of open discussion in countries like Saudi Arabia and South Korea.
Because saving the climate is not lucrative but oil is, decisions are being made to forget about the climate crisis because anyway, if the planet is dying, surely you’d prefer living out the last few chapters of life on Earth in economic wealth, right? Except, oopsie, that promised trickle-down economy turned out to be a hoax too, as per usual, only the richest keep ensuring their wealth grows, whilst the rest of us idiots pay taxes and reheat canned soups.
The humanity is being gaslit by the powerful few into resignation over the most important issue of all - it’s own survival.
This is the unfolding story - a narrative of power shifts and the breakdown of old multilateral systems, mirrored in the personal lives of semi-functional adults trying to renegotiate their own boundaries and internal resources.
Capricorn doesn’t care about your aesthetic healing journey. It cares about whether your life actually works. The support systems keep supporting.
The invitation this week is not to magically feel better. It’s to get real. To build resilience that isn’t performative.
To make peace with the fact that January is not a rebirth. It’s a gentle rehab.
And honestly, thank fuck for that.
“The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it.” – Henry David Thoreau

Depending on where you are in the world, you might feel certain transits slightly earlier or later. Time zones have opinions too.
🦁 Monday, January 5
Chiron direct in Aries, trine Moon in Leo
The week opens with a high-voltage activation of the Wounded Healer. Chiron, which stationed direct on January 2, is finally gathering forward momentum in the fire sign of Aries. This marks a meaningful turning point in a healing journey that has been unfolding since 2018, specifically targeting wounds connected to self-assertion, personal identity, and the right to exist. For the last seven years, many have felt like they were failing to live up to their potential, haunted by an inner warrior who was either too paralyzed to fight or too aggressive to be effective.
As Chiron resumes forward motion, the focus shifts from internal excavation to external integration. Aries Chiron is about wounds around independence, courage, being allowed to exist loudly. Leo Moon adds drama, pride, the deep need to be seen.
This might feel like suddenly remembering a moment where you were dismissed, embarrassed, underestimated. Or like getting irrationally angry when someone interrupts you because, actually, this has been happening your entire life and today you’re done swallowing it.
Last time this transit hit me hard, it came through a completely unnecessary argument that turned out to be about a decade-old insecurity I hadn’t clocked yet. A friend of mine had it show up as finally standing up to a boss who had been subtly undermining them for years. Same energy, different theatre.
The medicine today is expression with dignity. You’re allowed to take up space. You’re not allowed to torch the building to prove it.

Sun conjunct Venus in Capricorn
"I don't like to gamble, but if there's one thing I'm willing to bet on, it's myself." — Beyoncé
Tuesday brings one of the most significant alignments of the year: the Sun conjunct Venus in the sign of Capricorn. Known as a Venus Cazimi or the Venus Star Point, this is a deeply grounding, clarifying moment that initiates a new four-year cycle regarding values, career direction and (gasp) self-respect.
In Capricorn, Venus is not interested in glittery romance or fleeting flings; she is looking for a partner who can build a life (or a career) with structure and shared goals.
This is adult romance. Adult values. Adult choices.
Sun and Venus meeting in Capricorn asks a brutally simple question. What do you actually care about enough to commit to.
This is love expressed through consistency, not grand gestures. Money conversations that are not sexy but are necessary. Choosing the relationship, the project, the lifestyle that supports you long-term instead of the one that flatters your ego short-term.
Capricorn knows that real pleasure comes from stability. From knowing the rent is paid. From trust built slowly. From not living in constant low-grade panic.
Hot take. Peace is hot.

Moon in Virgo trine Mercury in Capricorn
“You don’t have to do everything. Just do the next right thing.”
– yes, this is from Frozen II. I apologize.
This is the day things start making sense again.
The universe is telling the collective to take a breather this week, despite the world telling everyone to get busy with resolutions. The greatest work one can do is tend to goals in private, slowing down and working with the natural cycles rather than forcing change overnight.
Moon in Virgo wants order. Mercury in Capricorn delivers practical thinking. Together, they clean up mental pile-up - effectively and diligently, like finally sorting that drawer full of cables you’ve been avoiding for three years. Mid-week taste like that nauseating truth, which is also the foundation for a better budget.
It is the luckiest day for Capricorn individuals, but for everyone else, it is the day to check the receipts before promising more than you can deliver. Excellent for planning, organizing, having grown-up conversations & writing lists that actually get used.
Emotionally, this can feel grounding. Like your nervous system finally exhaling. Like realizing you can’t control everything, but you can control this one small thing, and that’s enough for today.
Do not underestimate how healing competence can be.

Venus conjunct Mars in Capricorn
Moon in Virgo trine Uranus in Taurus
Venus and Mars sextile Jupiter in Cancer
Sun trine Moon
"I'm tough, I'm ambitious, and I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a bitch, okay." — Madonna
This day is stacked.
Mars (action) and Venus (desire) meeting in the sign of the Mountain Goat creates a vibe that favors grown-up choices that still feel good, not impulse buys or emotional IOUs. However, in Capricorn, this is not about instant results it is about building the building brick by brick. The sextile to Jupiter in Cancer adds a generous and celebratory note, but it can also be…..
