Libra New Moon: We're All Out of Fucks to Give

...And how to protect and grow our peace regardless

“You must learn a new way to think before you can master a new way to be.” – Marianne Williamson

So, apparently - in the trainwreck of 2025, we are not allowed to have nice things even within the Venus-ruled season of Libra - normally a luxurious & sensual stopover before the cave crawl into the shadowy realm of Scorpio. The vibe is shot. We’re all walking around with the low-grade hum of existential dread - or if you’re in idiot like me and you still read News, the hum is a full on rage-bait inflicted inferno in your nervous system.

And once again, none of the horrible shit we read about in newspapers (meaning 10secs clips on TikTok, let’s be honest with each other - where else do people get their ideas about the world nowadays? It’s not books! Those are apparently banned forever) turns out as the promised Apocalypse. This is just Tuesday in late-stage capitalism.

Bouncing between absurd pop culture moments and the very real, very terrifying convulsions of a world order that’s coming apart at the seams, you and me can hardly be blamed for running out of fucks to give.

And right into this mess, the New Moon in Libra arrives on October 21st - a cosmic intervention demanding we make a choice.

A Peace Treaty with a Poison Pen

This New Moon lands at 28 degrees of Libra, the last-gasp of the sign. So, perhaps the vibe is more of fated endings, coming full circle, closing a trauma loop, rather than planting seeds of new dreams and aspirations. Think of it as the universe holding you at the edge of a cliff and saying: “You can’t go back, so what’s it gonna be?”

We all go through necessary metamorphosis to adjust to the world changing on the outside of ourselves. Even if we think of it in the least dramatic way possible - Libra as a cardinal sign, meaning it oversees the threshold between two seasons.

Cardinal signs are the cosmic hinges upon which the great door of the seasons swings. Each one marks a threshold moment - a sacred pause between what has been and what is becoming. They are initiators, gatekeepers of change..the ones who turn the handle when the world is ready to shift. Libra, especially, stands with one foot in the lingering sun and the other in the lengthening shadows, teaching us the art of balance and beauty of graceful transition.

No matter how many concrete jungles we build or how many glowing screens we worship, the myth of separation from nature remains just that.. a myth.

Her breath still moves through us. Her pulse sets the tempo of our hearts. As the air cools and the light softens, your body knows before your mind does: it’s time to exhale.

As we make that step over the threshold from summer to autumn, our wardrobe changes, our habits evolve, our dreams and desires molt like leaves and assume new shapes. The long, golden evenings of barefoot laughter give way to candlelit corners and the rustle of pages turning beneath soft blankets. The scent of sunscreen and sea salt fades, replaced by woodsmoke, apples, sharp sweetness of rain on cold stone.

We trade picnic blankets for armchairs, iced drinks for steaming cups of tea that fog the windowpane. Our social rhythm shifts from outward expansion to quiet gathering, from festivals and open skies to intimate dinners and deep conversations.

These are not small adjustments, but echoes of the Earth’s own turning. Reminders that we, too, are creatures of the seasons, no matter how far we drift from the soil beneath our feet. Libra’s gift is teaching us how to move elegantly through change, to let the world turn and to turn with it, finding beauty in the in-between.

In its last degree though, the 21st October’s New Moon - bowing and clearing the stage for the arrival of Scorpio Season, Libra here simultaneously exposes the hypocrisy of performative harmony.

Making this whole situation a beautiful, chaotic mess is a T-square between this New Moon, Chiron in Aries and Jupiter in Cancer. Our deepest wounds around our identity and our very right to exist (Chiron in Aries) are being blown up to magnificent, operatic proportions by Jupiter’s emotional firehose in Cancer. The New Moon in Libra is the focal point, the place where all this tension demands a decision. It feels like being in a couples therapy session where your therapist is also your childhood bully, and they’ve invited your entire extended family to watch. It’s a setup for a breakthrough, but first, you have to survive the breakdown.

And just to make sure we’re not getting too comfortable with all this forced transformation, Mercury and Mars are holding a secret meeting in Scorpio. This adds a layer of ruthless honesty and strategic depth to the Libra negotiations. It’s the universe reminding us that while Libra wants to sign a peace treaty, Scorpio is the one who brought the poison pen. The agreements you make now, with yourself and others, are binding, transformative. They have consequences.

So here we are..scraped raw, blinking in the smoke of collapsing systems, hearts tired but still beating. The world feels like it’s spinning on a rusted axis, screeching through every headline that brings a new heartbreak.

And yet, beneath the noise, Libra’s New Moon whispers the most subversive spell of all: believe in balance.

Believe that harmony is not a hippie dippie naive bullshit, but a true rebellion. And that quote about the moral arc of the universe taking fucking long but always bending toward justice? Sure, it’s been Instagrammed to death. But it lingers for a reason. It’s a spell disguised as a quote - a reminder that hope, when practiced daily, does change the angle of the world.

To imagine justice in an unjust world is a kind of witchcraft. A refusal to surrender the imagination to despair. To rage-bait bullshit. And planting beauty in the rubble is a defiance. Another potent spell of tending a flicker of grace when cynicism would be easier.

I know you’ve run out of fucks to give. We all have. But tonight, try choosing peace over performance. Choosing connection over consumption. Choosing to build a future that doesn’t yet exist..but could, if you let it begin inside you.
