New Moon x Pisces: The Cosmic Curtain Rises

Listen to the article here

"The dreamers are the saviors of the world." - James Allen

It’s late February. My least favorite month. I always said if there is one month I’d happily delete out of the calendar - it’s this bleak, muddy, flu-ridden, post-festive bloat marked stopover between winter nobody wants anymore and spring that’s taking forever to come. It's always been a nothing-burger of a month, historically speaking—no blockbusters premiere, no major events happen. Just… blah. Until now, of course.

2025 February is breaking its own mold. The world is currently hiding behind its popcorn buckets, anxiously binging the latest daily installment of the American socio-political horror series—because, as history has taught us, whatever chaos unfolds in the U.S. eventually becomes the next global trend. Just as the initial outrage and paralyzing shock begin to crystallize into resistance, the cosmic stage is preparing to dump a few barrels of metaphorical gasoline into the mix - the upcoming retrogrades and eclipses to serve as a lit up match.

Naturally, right on schedule, February 27, 2025, delivers the New Moon in Pisces, the year's most potent lunation. If New Moons are fresh starts, then a Pisces New Moon is the kind of new beginning that feels like a dream sequence in a Lynchian film—surreal, poignant, possibly confusing, and brimming with hidden meaning. And this one? It’s particularly drenched in significance because it’s the last New Moon Saturn and Neptune will witness together in Pisces in over a hundred years. Yes, the planetary elders are moving on, and this lunation is a grand cosmic exit interview for all things nebulous, spiritual, and artistically chaotic.

But before we dive into the New Moon itself, let’s take a scenic tour of the astrological landscape we’re currently navigating, because like down here below, there’s a lot happening up above. And as you know, what also applies is ‘as within, so without’. Mars just woke up from its months-long hibernation in Cancer, Venus is about to stage a dramatic retrograde in Aries, Mercury will soon join the backspin waltz, and Saturn and Neptune are engaged in a celestial tug-of-war between reality and fantasy. It’s an astrology lover’s buffet of existential reckoning.

Into the Ocean Within: Pisces New Moon Meditation

In THIS GUIDED JOURNEY - partly a meditation, in part a powerful ritual - you will journey inward to a place of stillness and peace, where the healing waters of Pisces wash over you. Through breathing, visualization, and gentle affirmations, you will align your mind, body, and spirit with the Piscean energies of intuition, compassion, and artistic flow. Find it HERE.

Mars Retrograde Ends: The Emotional Battle Finds Resolution

First, we must discuss the elephant in the room: Mars going direct in Cancer on February 23. Mars retrograde is always a moment of frustration, but when it’s in the sign of emotional security and familial trauma (oh, joy!), it becomes a masterclass in suppressed rage and unresolved childhood wounds. Over the past months, we’ve all had to confront what truly makes us feel safe—or, more accurately, what makes us want to punch a hole in a wall when we don’t feel safe. There is an unprecedented number of families being torn apart by the immigration pogroms and incredibly cruel yet oddly gleefully executed chainsaw-style firings and purging of government structures, which - let’s be absolutely clear here - have nothing to do with saving money and everything to do with eroding democratic freedoms and instilling shock, fear and panic.

Now, with Mars finally direct, the cosmic red light's turned green. Expect that pent-up aggression to shift from passive-aggressive sniping to full-blown, take-no-prisoners action. Time to buckle up, because Mars is no longer whispering; it's shouting its battle cry. There’s momentum again. Decisions that felt impossible to make are suddenly coming into focus. The catch? Cancer is still a water sign, so action comes wrapped in sentimentality. Expect bold but teary declarations, firm but emotionally laced boundaries, and a desire to defend whatever feels like home—whether that’s your literal family, your chosen family, or the last bastion of your emotional sanity.

The Venus Retrograde Plot Twist: Love, Money, and the Rewriting of History

Hot on the heels of Mars’ grand return to form, Venus is about to throw a wrench into our personal and collective love stories. On March 1, Venus stations retrograde in Aries, a placement that is already about as subtle as a drag queen at a conservative gala. Aries Venus is bold, brash, and loves hard—but in retrograde? It’s an ex-lover showing up unannounced, a long-lost passion reigniting in the most inconvenient way, or a dramatic reassessment of what and who truly sets your heart on fire. Now, if you're feeling a strange sense of déjà vu, there's a reason. Eight years ago, in the first quarter of 2017, Venus last danced her retrograde tango in Aries. Remember those days? What were you being confronted with in your personal life back then?

On the global stage, the world was grappling with the first weeks of Trump's presidency, marked - surprise surprise - by a flurry of executive orders, including those related to immigration, which sparked widespread protests and legal challenges. There was also a focus on economic policy, with discussions and early actions related to tax reform and deregulation. Sound familiar?

It's as if Venus is pulling us back to that same point on the great spiral of history, but with a crucial difference. We're not simply repeating the past; we're revisiting it from an elevated position. If we believe that the spiral of time is indeed turning upwards, we have the opportunity to approach these familiar challenges with newfound wisdom and experience. This retrograde isn't just about personal relationships; it's about re-evaluating our collective values, our societal 'loves,' and how we express them. Will we repeat the same patterns, or will we leverage the lessons of the past to forge a more enlightened future?

Venus retrograde will force us to examine not just our relationships but also our values—what we prioritize, how we spend our money, and whether the things we once wanted still hold their allure. Given that Venus will dip back into Pisces later in the month, there’s also a spiritual reckoning at play. This isn’t just about romantic entanglements; it’s about how we define pleasure and what truly brings us joy. Spoiler alert: the answer may not be what you expected.

The Neptune-Saturn Swan Song: Dreams and Reality Collide

Neptune's been swimming in the Pisces pool for a solid 12 years, while Saturn's been doing his best lifeguard impression for the last 2.5. Now, they're both packing their floaties, and frankly, it's about time. Neptune in Pisces? Think of it as a 12-year acid trip for the collective consciousness. We've had spiritual awakenings, sure, but mostly we've been living in a world where almost everyone’s perception of reality and worldview is shaped by social media, a world were the oxymoron of 'alternative facts' became a part of our shared global vernacular, and truth eroded faster than a sandcastle at high tide. Remember when your uncle started quoting ten-second conspiracy clips from TikTok as gospel? Yeah, that's Neptune in Pisces. Saturn, bless his bureaucratic heart, tried to build a filing system for all this madness, but let's be honest, he was basically trying to organize fog.

This New Moon, happening in the final, hazy moments of their Pisces residency, is like the cosmic equivalent of a 'last call' at a really weird party. It’s asking: What illusions have you clung to? Did you actually manifest that winning lottery ticket, or was it just a really convincing dream? What spiritual lessons did you learn, or did you just get really good at believing in lizard people? And, most importantly, what boundaries have been obliterated? Because, let’s face it, with everyone believing their own version of reality, those boundaries are probably flatter than a pancake. With both planets moving into Aries soon, the era of Piscean reverie is closing. Time to sober up, folks. The dawn of direct, action-driven spiritual pursuits is upon us, which hopefully means less time arguing with your neighbor about chemtrails and more time, you know, actually doing something useful.

The New Moon in Pisces: A Portal for Reinvention

Now that we’ve set the stage, let’s return to the star of the show: the Pisces New Moon. New Moons are always about setting intentions, but this one is different. It’s the last New Moon in Pisces with Saturn and Neptune present, which means it’s a final exam in whatever spiritual or creative curriculum you’ve been enrolled in for the last decade. Have you learned the lesson? Have you truly integrated the teachings, or are you still swimming in the same illusions?

This is precisely why my Pisces Season workshop (which you'll find below) leans so heavily on the potent medicine of The Hanged Man in the Tarot—he understands the wisdom found in a change of perspective.

This is a Moon for deep introspection, for releasing what no longer serves, for planting the seeds of dreams that can actually be built upon rather than just fantasized about. It’s a moment to acknowledge both the beauty and the deception of the Piscean energy in our lives—to embrace the mysticism while grounding it in something tangible.

Honoring the Pisces New Moon: Practical and Spiritual Practices

  • Dream Journaling with Reality Checks:
    • Keep a dream journal for the days leading up to and following the New Moon. Pay close attention to recurring themes and symbols.
    • For each dream entry, ask yourself: "What practical steps can I take to integrate this dream's message into my waking life?"
    • Use a "reality check" journal entry. Write out the facts of your life, and compare them to the dreams you have been having. Where do they intersect, and where are they completely different?

  • Water Rituals for Release and Intention:
    • Take a ritual bath with Epsom salts and essential oils like lavender or chamomile to cleanse your energy.
    • As the water drains, visualize releasing old illusions, fears, and stagnant emotions.
    • Write your intentions on biodegradable paper and release them into a flowing body of water (safely and responsibly, of course).

  • Creative Visualization with Grounding:
    • Engage in creative visualization, imagining your ideal future.
    • After each visualization, spend time grounding yourself through practices like walking barefoot on the earth, deep breathing, or mindful meditation.
    • Create a vision board, but add action steps to each picture. For example, if you want a new job, add a section of the vision board with steps like “update my resume, network with 3 people this week”.

  • Spiritual Decluttering:
    • Cleanse your physical space, removing items that hold negative or stagnant energy.
    • Also, declutter your digital space: unsubscribe from toxic social media accounts and delete unnecessary files.
    • Medidate on what relationships in your life are healthy, and which are not.

  • Mundane Manifestation:
    • Set realistic, achievable goals. Break down larger dreams into smaller, manageable steps.
    • Create a daily or weekly schedule to implement these steps, adding structure to your Piscean dreams.
    • Create a budget, and work on your finances. Pisces can sometimes be very ungrounded, so this is a good time to work on being grounded.

Journaling Prompts for Deep Introspection:

  • What illusions have I been clinging to in my life?
  • What spiritual lessons have I learned over the past decade? How have I applied them?
  • What boundaries have I set, or have they been blurred?
  • What dreams are worth building upon, and what practical steps can I take to manifest them?
  • How can I integrate my spiritual beliefs into my daily life in a grounded and meaningful way?
  • What does true compassion mean to me, and how can I express it in a healthy way?
  • Where have I given my power away to illusions, or people?
  • Where have I been overly critical of myself, or others?

Your Star-Sign Roadmap for Pisces New Moon

Now, let’s zoom in further and talk about how this New Moon and its surrounding transits will affect each zodiac sign. (This is where it gets fun.) Each sign is receiving this lunation in a different house, which means different themes are at play. Consider this your highly specific astrological weather report.

♈ Aries (12th House): This New Moon hits your 12th house of the subconscious. Normally, you’d rather be doing something (anything!) than sitting with your thoughts, but this lunation asks you to go deep. It’s a time for purging old wounds, engaging in dream work, and confronting that thing you’ve been avoiding. You may feel a strange pull towards solitude—lean into it. Something profound is waiting to be unearthed in the stillness.

♉ Taurus (11th House): Landing in your 11th house of community, this New Moon nudges you to reassess your social circles. Are the people around you supporting your dreams, or are they subtly undermining them? You’re being asked to set intentions around who you want to align with moving forward. It’s a time to find your cosmic crew, even if that means cutting ties with energy vampires.

♊ Gemini (10th House): The New Moon illuminates your 10th house of career and public image. This is a professional rebirth moment—consider what legacy you want to leave behind. If you’ve been coasting, this lunation demands a vision. If you’ve been striving, it offers clarity. Set goals, but make sure they align with your soul, not just your bank account.

♋ Cancer (9th House): Sitting in your 9th house of expansion and higher learning, this New Moon asks: Where are you ready to grow? Whether it’s through travel, study, or a spiritual awakening, this lunation wants you to step outside your comfort zone. This is your cosmic permission slip to dream bigger.

♌ Leo (8th House):  With the New Moon lighting up your 8th house of transformation and shared resources, it’s time to get intimate—with yourself, your finances, and the parts of life that can’t be sugar-coated. There’s a reckoning in the air, and while you love the limelight, this lunation demands vulnerability. What debts—emotional or financial—need addressing? What relationships require a deeper level of trust? Lean into the discomfort; profound rebirth is just around the corner.

♍ Virgo (7th House): Your 7th house of partnerships takes center stage, and guess what? The New Moon wants you to do a relationship audit. Whether romantic, business, or platonic, this is your chance to assess who belongs in your inner circle. Have you been settling? Over-giving? Playing therapist instead of partner? Time to set new terms. If single, a significant connection could be brewing. If attached, expect an epiphany about where you’re headed together—or apart.

♎ Libra (6th House): The 6th house of daily routines and health is your stage for this lunation, and the New Moon is ready to edit and reshuffle your habits. Have your routines been supporting your well-being, or are you drowning in caffeine and chaos? This is the perfect time to refresh your wellness goals, streamline your schedule, and prioritize self-care without the guilt. Your work-life balance is under review—lean into efficiency and ditch the dead weight.

♏ Scorpio (5th House): The New Moon electrifies your 5th house of creativity, romance, and self-expression. Translation? It’s time to unapologetically revel in your passions. Whether it’s art, love, or a thrilling new hobby, embrace the things that make your heart race. If you’ve been feeling creatively blocked, this lunation is your divine reset. Romance also gets a cosmic boost—if there’s a spark, let it ignite. Just remember: Drama is optional.

♐ Sagittarius (4th House): Your 4th house of home and emotional foundations is the focal point, making this the perfect moment for some serious nesting. Whether you’re considering a literal move, a deep clean, or setting stronger emotional boundaries, this New Moon urges you to create a space—physical and emotional—that truly feels like home. If family tensions have been simmering, expect clarity. Your sanctuary is sacred—protect it accordingly.

♑ Capricorn (3rd House):  The New Moon lands in your 3rd house of communication, learning, and local connections, urging you to find your voice. Have you been holding back from saying what truly needs to be said? This is the time to speak your truth—just do it with grace. Writing projects, contracts, or new learning opportunities may present themselves. If you’ve been feeling disconnected from your community, make the first move to reconnect. Confidence is currency—spend it wisely.

♒ Aquarius (2nd House): The New Moon in your 2nd house wants you to take a hard look at your finances and self-worth. Are you valuing yourself properly? Are you spending in alignment with your goals? This is a money mindset reset. The way you handle your resources says a lot about how you see yourself—so make sure your actions reflect your true worth. Set financial goals, reassess your budget, and if you’ve been underestimating yourself, knock it off.

♓ Pisces (1st House):  Ah, the star of the show! This New Moon is happening in your 1st house of self, identity, and new beginnings, making it your personal cosmic reset. This is your moment to set bold intentions, shed outdated versions of yourself, and fully embrace your dreams. Who do you want to be? How do you want to show up in the world? The universe is handing you a blank canvas—paint fearlessly. Trust yourself, trust the process, and most of all, trust that the magic is real.

This New Moon is a portal, a cosmic reset button wrapped in glittering Piscean magic. It’s an invitation to dissolve your doubts, let go of outdated stories, and step boldly into the dreamiest, most aligned version of yourself.
As Oscar Wilde so brilliantly put it, "Be yourself; everyone else is already taken." There is no time like now to embrace the quirks, the visions, and the weird, wonderful magic that is uniquely yours. So set those intentions, trust the unknown, and remember—when in doubt, add a little extra sparkle. The universe loves a good plot twist, and this is your moment to shine.
