The Humbling Art of Starting Over

Surviving (and Thriving) in the Saturn-Neptune Aries Activation

If you've been feeling the subtle (or not-so-subtle) dissolution of old dreams and an insistent call to deeper spiritual understanding over the past two and a half years with Saturn in Pisces, prepare for a new kind of intensity. As of Saturday, May 24th, 2025, Saturn charges into Aries, joining Neptune, setting the stage for a transformative couple of years that will demand your courageous action, unwavering authenticity, and a willingness to initiate your true self into being.

This isn’t just about what you do; it’s about who you are. Saturn in Aries demands "authentic embodiment, not curated identity". You’ll either emerge forged in fire or caught faking it.

I see it all perfectly; there are two possible situations — one can either do this or that. My honest opinion and my friendly advice is this: do it or do not do it — you will regret both.” – Søren Kierkegaard
💭♈💫

It happened again this morning. That familiar yet unsettling sensation of being jolted awake hours before dawn, not by an alarm, but by a brain already thrumming at a million miles an hour. My thoughts were doing this cyclical, restless dance – you know the one – and before I knew it, I was at my computer, a familiar glow in the pre-dawn dark. This is so not me, the part that neglects sleep. But the part that gets lost in a whirlwind of words until the sun bleeds into the sky? That’s definitely me.

I’ve got about four different writing projects open, each one feeling urgent, vital, and utterly consuming. I’m both incredibly buzzed, like my mind is a live wire, and yet, deeply exhausted. It’s that ‘coming home from the club night, the party is over & the body is broken, we need to get SOME sleep at least or the whole weekend is fucked, but your ears are still ringing and the redbulls still fizzing in your veins & the birds outside are SCREAMIN, why the hell are they screaming?’ feeling. God, I don’t miss my twenties.

If any of that sounds familiar, you’re likely feeling the shift. We’ve just transitioned from the delicious, honey-dripping slowness of Taurus season into something far more electric. The Sun recently slid into Gemini, and Mercury, our celestial messenger, is following suit, making an exact sextile to Saturn in Aries this Sunday, May 25th. We’re also just days away from a New Moon in Gemini on Monday the 26th, which will itself form supportive sextiles to both Saturn and Neptune, who are now beginning their intense dance together in early Aries.

This is potent, electrifying energy: an invitation to articulate, to connect, to initiate with our words and ideas. That Sunday sextile from Mercury in Gemini to Saturn in Aries can feel like a sudden ability to channel that mental whirlwind into something structured, something tangible – hence, the multiple drafts and the urgent need to make something of these racing thoughts.

But let's be real, all this mental energy, this relentless internal chatter and drive, can also feel incredibly draining. It’s a high-frequency buzz that can leave our nervous systems feeling frayed, even as we’re compelled by it.

I suspect you might have noticed we are in the middle of an ( – everyone’s favorite word incoming –) UNPRECEDENTED year. And if you’d consulted your favorite astrologer, you’d have known this was coming. The sky, after all, reflects whatever is happening down here, and vice versa. It’s the ancient law of correspondence – "as above, so below."

This is precisely why astrology, as a navigation tool through the beautiful chaos of human history and existence, still rings true thousands of years after we first began charting the movements of the stars and planets, deciphering the patterns of their correlation to our own journeys on Earth.

The reason for this sustained intensity, this feeling of being on the cusp of something monumental and slightly terrifying? So many planets are changing signs in 2025, heralding significant shifts in the collective and personal weather. We’ve got:

  • Pluto continuing its societal deep-clean in Aquarius.
  • Uranus preparing to electrify Gemini.
  • Jupiter set to expand into the nurturing realms of Cancer.
  • Neptune finally begins its departure from its watery home in Pisces, moving into fiery Aries.
  • And our main focus today: Saturn, the great cosmic teacher and taskmaster, is also barrelling into Aries.

That’s right. Saturn joins Neptune in Aries. And Saturn is profoundly uncomfortable here. This is a planet that rules restrictions, consequences, long-term planning, and building solid structures. Aries, on the other hand, is the raw, untamed impulse of "Fuck all of that, the time to act is YESTERDAY!" It’s the primal scream of initiation, impatient and demanding. Saturn in Aries is like trying to build a skyscraper during an earthquake, armed only with a sheer willpower.

For the first three months, roughly from late May until the end of summer 2025, both Saturn (the pressure to structure) and Neptune (the tendency to dissolve structures, or chase impossible dreams) will sit together in the very early degrees of Aries.

This conjunction will test our ability to discern true vision from delusion, and courageous action from impulsive folly. It’s a period where the urge to begin anew will be met with both the profound responsibility of creating something lasting and the seductive whisper of escapism or confusion.

Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us act, just once, with beauty and courage. Perhaps everything that frightens us is, in its deepest essence, something helpless that wants our love.” - Rainer Maria Rilke

Saturn in Aries: The Cosmic Audit of YOU

This transit is about "committing to who it is that you are". It’s about raw, unfiltered authenticity backed by relentless action.

🔥 Sustain the Spark, or Watch it Die: Aries is the divine spark of life, inspiration, and courage. But a spark without fuel and structure fizzles fast. Saturn demands you learn how to turn that initial burst of passion – in your work, relationships, or personal crusades – into a sustainable bonfire, not just a flash in the pan. If you’re a professional project-starter who never finishes, Saturn’s got your number.

💣 Accountability is Thy New Kink: No more blaming your ex, your boss, the rigged system, or Mercury retrograde for your fuck-ups. Saturn in Aries is a "cosmic reminder that you are the sum of your actions" – on good days and bad. It’s time to get "radically accountable" for your role in your own dramas and learn from your losses. This transit will be hardest for anyone with a "god complex" thinking their actions won’t catch up. Oh, they will. USA, exhale.

🚧 Define or Be Defined: The caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland had it right: "Whooo are YOU?". Saturn in Aries forces you to chisel your authenticity, even when it’s easier to be what others expect. If you don’t define yourself, others will, and you’ll end up living their narrative. This is about taking the driver’s seat of your own goddamn life.

👑 Inner Authority is the Only Authority That Matters: Aries can be fiercely rebellious against anyone telling it what to do. Saturn here demands you cultivate inner authority. Stop looking outside for validation or permission. You’re an adult; you can eat chocolate for dinner, but you also have to own the cavities. This is about believing in yourself even when the outer world doesn’t.

⚔️ Fight For Your Sovereignty (Wisely): This transit will ask you to stand up for yourself, your rights, and your autonomy. It’s about daring to dream of new ways of doing things and advocating for what’s right, even if it’s hard. But this isn’t about mindless rage. Saturn in Aries means your "impulse control is about to be drafted into the military". Learn the difference between bravery and recklessness, because knee-jerk reactions now have long-term consequences. Your anger will either break you or make you a legend; don't spiritualize your fury—strategize it.

🌱 The Humbling Art of Starting Over: Saturn in Aries humbles the know-it-all and "exalts the beginner". Be prepared to be a novice again, even if you’re a master elsewhere. This transit is a cosmic reset, asking: "Are you brave enough to begin again?". Let yourself suck at something new; mastery begins with showing up awkward, over and over.

The sanest way out? Straight fucking through.

Aries Sun & Rising

(Saturn & Neptune were in your 12th House of Pisces; now transiting your 1st House of Aries)

The Pisces Purge (12th House Recap):

The last couple of years with Saturn and Neptune drifting through your 12th House of secrets, self-undoing, and cosmic back-alleys probably felt like a long, bewildering dream, or maybe a spiritual detox that occasionally tipped into an existential hangover. You were wading through subconscious fog, dissolving old karmic ties, and confronting hidden fears or sorrows. Endings were frequent, clarity was… elusive. You were learning about surrender, compassion (maybe forcibly), and the art of letting go of shit you didn’t even realize you were carrying.

Saturn & Neptune in Aries – The 1st House Initiation: "Rebirth by Fire"

Now, Saturn (and initially Neptune) crash-lands into your 1st House – YOU. The pressure is officially ON your identity, your body, and how you meet the world. This is the start of a brand-new Saturn cycle for you, a profound re-invention from the ground up.

  • Identity Under Construction: You're being forced to define who you are, not based on whims, but on what you can endure and build. Past self-definitions that were flimsy or performative will crumble. Neptune here might initially cloud your confidence or make you shapeshift through identities. Be gentle, but keep showing up.
  • Radical Self-Reliance: Forget waiting for backup; you’re learning to be your own damn hero. Support might feel scarce, orchestrated by the cosmos to force you to dig deep and find your own courage.
  • Body Talk: Your physical self is a major focus. This is prime time for a "fitness era", getting serious about health, or understanding your body's limits and strengths. Energy might feel more muted, forcing you to be intentional about where it goes.
  • Boundary Boss: With the 7th House of relationships opposite, you'll be drawing some hard lines, revoking access if others drain your precious life force or hinder your becoming.

🃏 Tarot Pull: The Forge of Self

  1. The Unfired Clay: What raw aspect of my identity is Saturn now demanding I shape?
  2. The Hammer & Anvil: What discipline or challenge is forging my new self?
  3. The Emerging Blade: What core truth about who I am is becoming undeniable?

📝 Journaling Deep Dive:

  • Pisces Echoes: What illusions about myself did I release while Saturn/Neptune were in my 12th? What fears am I still carrying?
  • Aries Ignition: Who am I when stripped of all external validation? What single, brave action can I commit to today that embodies the "me" I'm forging? If my life is my message, what is it screaming right now?

🎶 Song: "I Am The Fire" - Halestorm ("I am the fire, I am burning brighter, Roaring like a storm...")

📚 Book: Iron John: A Book About Men by Robert Bly (for the archetypal journey of raw energy into mature strength).

🎬 Movie: Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) – Forging identity and fighting for survival in a brutal, uncompromising landscape.
