Something started today and I want you to know about it before the news cycle buries it under the next emergency. This New Moon in Gemini is the first one with Uranus newly settled into the sign, which means the seven-year era of communicative revolution, the one I've been talking about for years, has just officially seeded itself.

This morning I stood barefoot in our garden, watching a dragonfly drowning dramatically in the jug I use to collect rain water. I dropped the wet laundry in the grass and run back inside to find something - ANYTHING - to help scoop it up and rescue. By the time I came rushing back with some tissue and tupperware, that dragonfly finished drinking and flew away. This was, of course, pre-coffee.
Muddled mind only slowly shifting back in focus - Mercury had just left Gemini and yes, it is slowing down in prep for another fucking retrograde, and it was like the air unzipped. My thoughts, for the first time in weeks, stopped clinging to the walls like damp laundry.
Dragonflies don’t drown!
And instead of enjoying baring witness to its morning ritual, what with the magical ripples on the water’s surface and all, my brain caught momentarily fire. Now I’ll probably need to rewash some of the laundry I dropped on the ground.
But that's a pretty good metaphor for what this lunation is going to ask of us, so I'll take it.
So What’s Different About This One?
Mercury rules this lunation and is currently sitting in Cancer, that’s Moon’s home turf, ok?
This means the two signs are in what astrologers call mutual reception..each planet occupying the other’s home sign, each helping the other function better than it might otherwise. Mercury is in Cancer while the Moon is in Gemini. The mind becomes more intuitive. The intuition becomes easier to articulate. Truth will out and all of that, no matter how emotional loaded it gets.
Cancer is also nesting, the safe spaces carved out in the mad world for us and ours.. Old family dynamics, the ones that run on subtext and silence and never quite get named directly, those become harder to avoid talking about. Some of that will be uncomfortable. Most of it will be necessary.
Mercury is in shadow right now, preparing to station everyone’s favorite retrograde shitshow later in June, and that shadow period matters. The ideas, plans, and realizations that surface around this new moon won’t be resolved quickly. They’re going to need the retrograde period to be rethought, reconsidered, turned over. If something comes to light around the 14th, give it the summer to germinate.
Sunday ushers in the first Gemini New Moon since Uranus officially settled into the sign for its seven-year stay. Expect something big, something that feels stupid at first and it might just turn sinister in retrospect.
There was a preview of Uranus in Gemini during the summer of 2025, but the Sun had already moved on by then. No lunar cycle was seeded. No real beginning was made. This lunation is the actual beginning. The official, ceremonial planting of a seed that will take until 2032 to fully flower.
That’s a long time to tend something. Which means what you initiate around this moon is not a sprint. It’s a seven-year project. Worth taking seriously.
Uranus is sitting in a precise square to the lunar nodes, bending the nodes that have been moving through Pisces and Virgo for eighteen months, a cycle that closes out in late July. These final degrees of a nodal cycle are always turbulent. Uranus strangling those nodes injects something electric and genuinely unpredictable into the whole picture. The old order is finishing. The new one hasn’t started yet. People make decisions under that pressure that they wouldn’t have made otherwise, and the decisions often turn out to be correct even when they feel insane in the moment.

At the same time, Uranus is in a long, wide trine with Pluto in Aquarius that will define the skies from 2026 through 2028, and this new moon is one of the first lunations to fully activate that aspect.
